Plugin Support?
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:48:30 PM »
Hi.
I just tried the sandbox, it looks nice.
it would be nicer if I can expand the Editor capabilities with self-made plugins.   :)
so, I have a couple of questions..
- how can I create a new plugin?
- do you have some documentation about plugins?
- Are the shaders compatible with OPENGL ES?
- will there be a linux version?

thank you!

Congrats for the sandbox!

Hi MicroDev!

Despite internally I use a robust plugin system for the different components of Paradise Sandbox (Sky, Ocean, ...), at the moment there is not any way for 3rd party users to create their own plugins.

In the future I'll very probably add support for scripting-based plugins and eventually (if there is enough interest) native plugins via C++ (which will require a SDK and a lot of documentation).

About the other questions:

Are the shaders compatible with OPENGL ES?
No, all shaders are written in HLSL and GLSL (So compatible with DirectX and OpenGL), but not compatible with OpenGL ES (Paradise Sandbox shaders are too complex for current generation of mobile devices)

Will there be a linux version?
Honest answer: only if there is a big enough user base that a linux/mac version could be relevant. From a technical point of view, it should be more or less straightforward (1 month work?), but at the moment there are other priorities and also the majority of 3d artists have a Windows machine (true or emulated).

I read it but I'm still doubt me on this, I am not very good. It's a great story, really.
